Brother David George Eikenburg went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 11, 2005. He was a loving, caring, compassionate husband, father, son, and pastor. He was born in Dallas, Texas November 19, 1953 to Frank and Margaret. He was preceded in death by his father Frank and brother, John Eikenburg.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Beth, daughters Jennifer, Gretchen, Maegan, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by his mother Margaret, brother Frank Eikenburg, sister Madelynn and brother-in-law Bill Brooks, sister Livonia and brother-in-law Bill Glaves, sister-in-law Elizabeth Eikenburg, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Ann and John Ashby and many nieces and nephews.
David graduated from Austin College and received his Masters in Business from Southern Methodist University, and he also earned a Masters of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological University. He served on staff of Gaston Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas, First Baptist Seguin, and in his present position as pastor of McQueeney Baptist Church, a position he has held for the past fourteen years.
His deep passion was to help people and did so sacrificially. He had one goal in his life and that was to lead people to know the Lord he loved so much. The number of family, friends, strangers, and associates lives that he impacted is innumerable. The motto David led his church by was, “We are here for good…your good… the good of your family…and the good of the community.”
David’s loving and compassionate pastoral guidance reached not only his church family but to everyone he met. He often quoted to his congregation 2 Timothy 4:7 – “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Without a doubt he was greeted in heaven with the words of our Lord, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
